Richard Pedlar Architects marked the beginning of a new chapter in its 48-year history on 1st April 2026 when Alexandra (Ali) Maskell and David Redfern were appointed as Directors.
Both Ali and David have a wealth of experience at the practice, which means the transition has been a smooth one. They took over from Simon Fitzgibbon, who has retired from his role as Director held since 2001. Ann-Marie Fitzgibbon has also stepped down and retired from her roles as Business Manager and Company Secretary.
Simon’s connection with the practice went back a long way having first joined us as a student on work experience with Richard going on to spend 42 years with RPA. Since retiring, Simon and Ann-Marie have been making the most of the glorious UK summer and are currently Interrailing around northern Europe for a month.
At the end of July, we marked their retirement with a party attended by many familiar faces. Former colleagues from over the years came along to celebrate, including Richard and Jane Pedlar. It was a fitting way to thank Simon and Ann-Marie for their great contribution and to reflect on how much the practice has grown and changed during that time.
We’d like to thank Simon and Ann-Marie for everything they’ve given to the practice and wish them all the very best for the future. We’re also excited to see the practice continue under Ali and David’s leadership.
